Pass me over like rushing water,
Rapids and tidal pools,
A passenger's life of ease.
Send me forw’rd with flowing streams,
On banks and tidy river walls,
Cool me down with a gentle breeze.
Run me over bedrock,
Worn smooth with time,
The gentle passing of the age.
Craft me in the caves,
Serene, small, or grander halls,
Sweet perfume of hyssop and sage.
Throw me over falls,
Through floods and riverbanks,
Always breathing softly.
Cast me to the ocean,
Rolled in thundering waves.
No calmer, the waters shall be.
